Expect the Unexpected

I started writing Agents of Karma #2 back in the middle of November 2021, hot on the heels of publishing Kill Karma. I had every intention of finishing in February 2022. *laughs to myself* Well, some unexpected twists and major plot changes were revealed while writing, and the book moved in a different direction–a more glorious and epic direction. Not complaining. But what that did was push my publication date back. I also work full-time as an EFT/Tapping Practitioner, so writing came second. Which pushed me back even farther.

Happily, I finished the rough draft in April. That’s when the rewriting started. Then I had two of my cats pass and let’s just say the grief was debilitating.

I finally finished-finished book 2 in August. Then deep edits began. Mind you, I still didn’t have a name for book 2, so I needed to conjure up a perfect name along with a  ton of other things:

  • Re-re-re-re-re-reading book after edits (not even exaggerating)
  • Send to Beta readers
  • Book cover art
  • Book formatting
  • Pick an official release date
  • And more

Then Hurricane Ian blew through my Florida hometown. We were without power and cell reception for a while. Once power was restored in record time (Thank you FPL and Linemen), I couldn’t focus on editing or anything book related, not when cleanup came first.

Once life somewhat returned to normal (life won’t ever be the same here in Naples, unfortunately. Not after the devastation we experienced), the name for book 2 was revealed to me: Measures of Vengeance. The title is absolutely fitting, especially with everything happening in book 2, as in quite a few characters are out for vengeance.

I suppose what I learned through this publication journey for book 2 is that we make plans, and God laughs. But you know what? It was all meant to be—diving timing and all—because MoV is bigger and better than its predecessor, KILL KARMA, the stakes are higher, and what happens sets the stage for future books in the Agents of Karma series.

I’m so excited for y’all to read Measures of Vengeance. I absolutely love it, and I hope you do, too.

Oh, and about the official publication date. I’m aiming for Late 2022. The cover art is the only hold-up, or I should say the artist who is currently working his magic.
